Police are seeking leads on the identities of two men responsible for the mid-morning Monday beating of a 21-year-old man in downtown Hilo.
The victim told police he was on the steps of the East Hawaii Cultural Center on Kalakaua Street when two men began harassing him. The man said he left to avoid a conflict, but was pursued by the men, who kicked and punched him several times.
The man later went to the hospital for treatment to his injuries and reported the crime to police. He wasn’t able to provide a good description of the perpetrators and police say leads are limited.
Any potential witnesses or others who have information on the assault are asked to call the police nonemergency line at 935-3311.
